Firaaq

For the award-winning film by eminent actress Nandita Das, marking her debut as a director, a range of film promotional publications were designed.

 

The design of the poster, leaflets, DVD box cover and the discs accentuated the ambivalent nature of the film and its title, Firaaq, which in Urdu, on the one hand, is hopeful and means to seek and on the other resigned to separation.

 

The credit titles were designed with the same inspiration, with the lettering by artist Jatin Das appearing on a scratched rusted sheet of metal that changes colour imperceptibly.
